Hello, I’m Gemma Westfold, a registered Nutritional Therapist...
I specialise in helping people get rid of the bloating, constipation, diarrhoea and all the exhausting and embarrassing symptoms of poor digestion and elimination. I do this without asking you to give up on tasty food and making you a social pariah who can’t be invited out to lunch. I can help you, even if you feel you’ve tried everything and have almost given up.
About me
When I work with clients, I want to make sure I completely understand their symptoms so that we can make small changes that will create a big impact.
Sometimes, digestive issues need dietary changes. I want to make them as simple and easy to follow as possible...
...without giving up on your enjoyment of life. In fact, I strongly believe that being sociable and being able to enjoy fun and relaxing time with friends and family around a dinner table is central to getting towards the complete health we both want for you.
My Journey
Since I was young, I have suffered with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) and from my 20s I added poor gut health and IBS into the mix. After making both conditions worse with a gruelling work schedule and two small kids, I got the chance to retrain in nutrition and learn about how my body works and how what I was doing and eating was making me worse.
I ate a good enough diet, but I couldn’t absorb the nutrients – before studying Nutritional Therapy for over four years with BCNH (and leaving with a distinction), I had no idea that digestion and absorption were two different things… I’m now in a position where in my mid 40s I am the healthiest I have been, with small, consistent changes and a firm 80/20 rule (the best choices 80% of the time, 20% leeway for life and living)
"My approach is all about sustainability of food swaps. I want this to be your new way of eating that doesn't impact your life negatively with food preparation, eating out, family meals...but will transform your life with better digestion, increased energy and glowing skin that will come with it"
You do not need another diet to try to stick to, you need a personalised plan that takes in to account how your body works and what foods you like and dislike.
Your gut health is the seat of your entire health so let’s start there. I have been in your position, and I am not a fan of faddy diets, but I am a fan of bringing in more variety and more choice and limiting the ultra-highly processed foods that can slow us (and our digestion) down.
I will explain all my recommendations, using the latest nutritional science so that you can see the link to food, nutrients and your health. Knowledge is certainly power, so you’ll be better equipped to make more informed decisions most of the time.
